DragonRidge Country Club is the private golf and social club inside MacDonald Highlands, set high in the McCullough Range with views across the Las Vegas Valley. Its 18-hole, par-72 course plays to 6,975 yards and was designed by Jay Morrish and David Druzisky to work through the natural hillsides and canyons (DragonRidge). If you're shopping for a golf home in Henderson, this is the club most buyers ask me about first.

The Golf Course

DragonRidge is a hillside course. The club says Morrish and Druzisky routed it through the natural hillsides and canyons, giving members wide fairways and large greens. Expect elevation changes and long views over the valley, as opposed to the flat, lake-lined layouts you'll find in older parts of town.

The club's own record includes hosting Tiger Jam III and IV for the Tiger Woods Foundation (2001) and The Wendy's 3-Tour Challenge (2001–2002), and Golf Digest named it among the best new private courses of 2001 (DragonRidge).

Practice facilities cover more than 60,000 square feet: an all-grass driving range, a short game area with two practice bunkers and two bent-grass putting greens.

Club Life Beyond Golf

The clubhouse sits on 170 acres and was recently remodeled, according to the club (DragonRidge). It includes:

• ONYX, the club's bar, plus two restaurants with seasonal menus
• Indoor and outdoor lounges, a ballroom, meeting rooms and event spaces
• A swimming pool, a snack bar and a golf shop
• Tennis and fitness facilities, available to both membership categories

The club's site also lists Dragon Grille, The Montrose Steakhouse and Red Dragon Sushi Bar among its dining outlets.

How Does DragonRidge Membership Work?

Per the club's membership page, there are two categories:

• Full Golf: unlimited use of golf, fitness, tennis, swimming, dining and social facilities. No greens or court fees, but cart fees (or an annual trail fee for a personal cart) apply. Tee times can be booked seven days ahead.
• Social: use of the fitness, tennis, swimming, dining and social facilities, without golf.

Food and beverage minimums apply to all categories. Ask the club how privileges extend to other members of your household. The club doesn't publish initiation fees or dues, so ask the membership office for current pricing before you write an offer.

Important for buyers: owning a home in MacDonald Highlands doesn't make you a member. Membership is a separate application and cost. Occasionally a seller includes a membership in a sale. If that's part of your deal, get the transfer terms in writing from the club.

• Which hole and which side: tee boxes, greens and cart paths change privacy and noise
